If you have your Bibles, and you should, turn with me today to I Kings 19:1-18. In just a moment we are going to read a story that is one of my favorites from the scripture. I actually preach a lot from this text because I just think it is so relevant to us today and it’s so important to our process of prayer.
Last week in her great message, Tammy Herzig quoting John chapter 10 verse 3 reminded us that Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice.” He didn’t say, “My sheep hear my words” He said, “My sheep know my voice.” And that struck me in such a profound way when she said that in her message I had literally had been thinking that and pondering that all week long. It has just grabbed a hold of me. “My sheep know my voice.”
Let me ask you a question, when was the last time you heard the voice of God speaking directly to you? When was the last time you heard the voice of God? Think about that for a moment.
