Only twice in the Gospels does Jesus use the word “church.” In Matthew 16, Jesus said, “…I will build My church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” With these few words, Jesus introduces a brand new concept of worship.
…So, what is the church and how is it supposed to crush the gates of hell? Well, the church is a community of people who follow Christ’s teaching and fulfill His mission on earth. That’s concise, but is it complete?
