There are two primary ways that God has revealed Himself to mankind; they are natural revelation and special revelation. Natural revelation is based on what we see when we look at the natural world. When we look with our natural eyes at the natural world, we can know some things about God. Some things about God are revealed in natural revelation.
The other primary way He has revealed Himself to us is through special revelation. This is based on what we hear when we listen to the Scripture.
Natural revelation is visual. Special revelation is verbal – God speaks His Word. And faith comes when we hear the word through the verbal, spoken word of God.
