August 23, 2020 – Pastor Barry Clair begins a new series, “Cancel Culture” with “Quarreling About Opinions”
According to the New York Post dated July 10, 2020, “Cancel culture [is] the phenomenon of promoting the “cancelling” of people, brands, and even shows and movies due to what some consider to be offensive or problematic remarks or ideologies.”
Simply put, cancel culture is a contemporary way of social banishment.
It happens primarily through social media. Someone says something or is found to have said something in the distant past, that disagrees with the mob mentality of acceptable behavior and political correctness. Cancel culture is the boycotting or silencing of someone or something with the threat of financial or popularity loss.
