Let me ask you a question; Have you ever been offended at Jesus?  I know that's an odd question, and at face value, that's a tough one to answer.  Has He ever failed to live up to your expectations?  I know the knee-jerk reaction is to say, "God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!"  But if we're honest, if we are brutally honest, I think many of us - if not every single person in this room today - would say that there are occasions when God/Jesus doesn't live up to our expectations.

Have you ever been just a little bit angry with God?  And more importantly, do you even dare to admit it?

In this series, we are examining at passages of Scripture that are baffling, perplexing, and somewhat puzzling.  We're studying sections of the Bible where the authors talk explicitly about a mystery, or something intentionally concealed and kept from understanding.

Today, I'm going to turn to another passage in Colossians chapter 1 where Paul talks about a mystery, something that he says has been kept hidden for ages and generations.

According to the dictionary, an enigma is something that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand.

There are many passages in the Bible that fit that definition.  I call them the enigmatic statements of Scripture.  Over the next several weeks, we're going to take a look at some of these verses, some of these passages that are hard to explain, hard to understand, and we are 'puzzling' over them.  Today, I want to talk about something that most Christians never consider enigmatic.
