When I Am Weak... Part 2

When I Am Weak... Part 2

October 15, 2017 - Pastor Barry Clair - When I Am Weak... Part 2
Today we conclude the message I began last week titled When I Am Weak...
Let me remind you briefly, the text we will study today does not say, "When I am weak, then He is strong."  It says something ironically and counter-intuitively different.  It says, "When I am weak, then I am strong."
But I also want to remind you that this message is not only for some immediately, but it is for all eventually.  We all will be at some point in our lives, exactly where Paul is in our text.  We need to be ready and prepared ahead of time for the trial of weakness to come.
Let us not be naive; let us not be in denial.  Let us not e lazy or asleep.  We must be equipped, even ahead of time, to understand why and how to be strong when we are weak.

When I Am Weak... Part 1

When I Am Weak... Part 1

October 8, 2017 - Pastor Barry Clair - When I Am Weak... Part 1
Our Scripture text today is II Corinthians 12:1-10. Finish this sentance, "When I am weak...." If you said "...then He/God is strong", although you could make a proposition and find support in the text, it is not correct in the context of this Scripture.
To be biblically correct in quoting that text, it is, "When I am weak, then I am strong."
I want you to be careful about that, and that is going to be the whole focus of the message today, because it is easy to say, "When I am weak then God is strong." That's easy. And we should give God all the glory and the credit for everything.
But this text, and what I want to talk about today and next Sunday, is what the Scripture says to us in a personal way.
Paul said, "What I have discovered in my life is that when I am weak, then I am strong."

Six Seconds After...

Six Seconds After...

October 14, 2017 - Pastor Barry Clair - Six Seconds After...
Before I left for my recent Gettysburg pilgrimage/vacation, my wife recommended I read or listen to the new book by Erwin McManus titled, "The Last Arrow: Save Nothing For the Next Life." Let me tell you, that book really rocked my world.
Paul had a similar situation he writes about under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in our text today, which is Philippians 1:19-24.
Let's contextualize this passage: Paul is in prison. He is awaiting trial. A conviction could mean his death!
The power of this Scripture, and the application to us today is learning how we can live like Paul did. How to live life in the face of death.
